Behavior System
We will use Class Dojo to keep track of Green points(good choices) and Red Points(bad choices). The amount of points they earn will determine which color they end up on for the day. There are five colors to our system.
If the student ends the day on BLUE it means they made GREAT (101% +)
If the student ends the day on PURPLE it means they made GOOD CHOICES (90%-100%)
If the student ends the day on GREEN it means they were READY TO LEARN (80%-89%)
If the student ends the day on YELLOW it means they were on WARNING (60%-79%)
If the student ends the day on RED it means they were on CONSEQUENSES (59% or less)

Rules
In our classroom we don’t focus on specific rules as much following the expectations we are taught. We work on things such as working when asked to, trying our best, having a good attitude, being respectful of all peers and teachers, and being safe. Since we engage in many different types of activities, our expectations are different depending on the activity we are doing so we work really hard on learning the expectations for each type of activity we do.
Communication Folder
Your child has a green communication folder. This folder will travel from home to school everyday. It has one side for things that are to be kept at home and one side for things that need to be returned to school. One thing that will return to school everyday is the student’s weekly planner.
Planner
Your child’s planner will be a communication tool for us to use. Here is where you can find information about things your child did during the day. There is a section for behavior information. Please initial this each day! They will be writing their letter of the week or Edmark word and a note about what they did for math. There is also a section where we will write notes about anything special that happened that day. You may also use the planner to relay information to me.
Specials and related services
Your child’s specials and services days are listed on the back cover of the communication folder.
Homework
Homework in our classroom consists of reading or being read to every night and the following:
•Students who are learning a letter of the week need to practice each night by stating the name and sound of the letter. They also should practice writing the letter.
•Students who have started the Edmark reading program should read their worksheets to an adult at night.
Doing some of the following activities at home can sharpen math skills:
•Count Objects- Encourage your child to count pieces of fruit, cans of vegetables, stair steps, or kitchen utensils.
•Encourage Guessing- Have your child guess amounts after looking quickly at a set of objects. For example, put a handful of jellybeans into a cup and ask your child to guess the number, and then count them out.
•Sorting- Sorting household items into different groups.
•Skip Count- Count with your child by 2's, 5's, and 10's.
